Went up to London to hear (and see!) Howard Shore conduct the London Philharmonic Orchestra in the uk premier of the entire Fotr soundtrack at the Royal Festival Hall.
That was fun.
Apart from those annoying bakas who took photos *stabstabstab*. Although I don't really think I can blame them that much, the whirling dervishes were pretty amazing. Lots of uh, whirling. They did take advantage of everyone who came just to see Howard though (everyone) by making them sit through 3 hours of other music before they got to him. We will not be made cultured dammit! Also scary amount of people in those cheap TT Virgin shirts.
I was sitting there, listening to this music (The Bridge Of Khazad Dum at that point) and watching this guy on the drums and I was like, this was the guy. When your watching Fotr, or listening to the soundtrack or whatever, that's the guy you hear. And that person their playing the flute, that's that bitter-sweet sound you hear when they come out into the sunlight. And on and on.
The standing ovation went on for atleast 5 minutes.
